The Papa & Barkley story
Papa & Barkley began in 2016 when Adam Grossman made a homemade cannabis topical for his father — the "Papa" — and named the company after him and the family dog, Barkley. Grossman co-founded the brand with Guy Rocourt in Eureka, in Humboldt County, and by 2019 its Releaf Balm had taken first place for Best Topical at the Cannabis Cup.
What sets it apart is the process: solventless, whole-plant infusion rather than isolated extracts, across both THC and CBD products. The catalog grew into tinctures, capsules and patches, then gummies and chocolates, and the Papa's Select line of solventless rosin. In 2021 the company opened Papa & Barkley Social, a cannabis lounge, spa and dispensary in Eureka.
